More effective training
The official Red Hat® classes (RH124™ & RH134™) have a lot of redundant topics. OCS courses are more streamlined, eliminating unnecessary redundancy.
Better price
OCS provides all of this for less than the cost of official Red Hat® classes. OCS courses cost more than 20% less than official Red Hat courses. This savings allows you to maximize your training dollars.
Better class format
The OCS "Linux Essentials" class focuses on pre-administration topics while the OCS "Linux Administration I" class focuses on administration topics. Both official courses, RH124™ & RH134™, include pre-administration and administration topics, obscuring the primary aim of each class.
Better topic coverage
By eliminating unnecessary redundancy and reorganizing course material more logically, topics are covered in more depth and detail.
More time to learn
Many students consider the official Red Hat® classes too fast paced. Students feel rushed to pick up new material and complete labs. OCS courses cover all the same topics in a manner that provides more time for the student to learn and practice their new skills.
Free digital copy of the course material
With official Red Hat® classes, students only get a printed copy of the course materials. With OCS classes, students also get a searchable PDF copy of the course materials. This helps students study for the exam, provides an easier way to access the material and makes the courseware a more valuable reference resource.
Free courseware updates
You can opt in to get free courseware updates for up to one year after you take your class. Just visit our web site and use a code provided by your instructor!
Courseware updates based on student feedback
We constantly monitor our student feedback to improve our course materials, including feedback concerning how well the course prepared the student for the certification exams.
Live USB disk
Students are provided with a classroom-based Operating System on a bootable USB. This provides students with an environment in which to practice after class. The Operating System that is provided on the USB will work both on 32-bit and 64-bit systems.
Time to study before taking the exam
It is extremely difficult to absorb the new material in a four-day class and pass the Red Hat® exam on the fifth day. By taking OCS training classes and signing up for the exam at a later date, students have more time to practice what they have learned, increasing their chance of passing.
Clearly stated exam topics
All topics that are testable on the RHCSA™ and RHCE™ exams are clearly indicated in the courseware.
Instructors review exam objectives in class
In official Red Hat® classes, the instructors are highly discouraged from discussing or highlighting exam objectives. In OCS classes, all instructors are RHCEs™ and will discuss the exams objectives to help the students focus on specific testable topics. OCS instructors will review all published test objectives both at the beginning and end of each course.*
*Please note that all RHCEs™ are prohibited from discussing any actual exam content. OCS instructors will always abide by these restrictions, both in and out of the classroom.
Post class support
An optional 1 day on-line review of critical certification topics is available
Access to instructors after class is provided via email
Additional Study Guide
Each student will receive a copy of "Hands-on Guide to the Red Hat® Exams: RHCSA™ and RHCE™ Cert Guide and Lab Manual" (by Damian Tommasino) to assist in studying for the certification exams.
