Overview:
Talend is THE open source data integration solution and rivals the market's leading proprietary solutions. It's powerful and open technology tools allow users to respond efficiently to a wide range of needs including: supplying datawarehouses, synchronizing databases, accessing Web services and transforming various file formats (XML, VSAM, delimited, positional, etc.)

Using actual case studies throughout the course, this three-day training will allow students to obtain "Foundation" status for Talend Open Studio.

Course Outline :

1. Presentation:

• ETL: An overview of proprietary and Open Source tools
• Operational and business intelligence integration
• Talend Open Studio

2. Modeling & documentation:

• Use the Business Modeler
• Documentation management and version management
• Organize the model links/Implementation: assignment

3. Job execution: files and databases:

• Generate data sets with tGenRow
• Understand diagrams and metadata
• Manage access to files (XML, positional, delineated, etc.)
• Manage database access (native, ODBC access, etc.)
• Use Mapper and transform the data
• Look up simple, multiple and complex references
• Manage shared code

4. Component concatenation:

• Use Before/After/First/Last triggers
• Use conditional links
• Use iteratives
• Manage errors: Trigger IfOK, IfError

5. Roll out Talend Open Studio:

• Model a component using tPerlFlex
• Create a simple component

6. Debugging, deployment and optimization:

• Debug quickly with tLogRow
• Use the statistical mode
• Execute step by step: trace mode
• Use the internal debugger
• Manage the context of executions
• Optimize jobs (routines and snippets)

7. Participating in the Talend community:

• Use the community tools (Forum, BugTracker)
• Exchange with community members
