George Geller

Bio: George Geller stayed in school way too long. He finally escaped with a Ph.D. in Chemistry from UCLA. After working at Caltech, Suntory (in Osaka, Japan) and Columbia University, he joined a San Diego company producing molecular simulation applications for chemical and pharmaceutical research. Eventually he figured out that writing good software was even more rewarding and fun than trying to make molecules behave. Thereafter he worked as a programmer at several software companies in the San Diego region, most notably Intuit, and has enjoyed modest success in founding his own software startups. He is a founding member of the Kernel-Panic Linux Users Group and the sponsor and primary editor of wsms.wikiplanet.com (the Web Server Maintenance and Security Wiki), a website dedicated to documenting the often-challenging job of keeping computers operating smoothly.

Bio: Ian Fyfe is responsible for product management and product marketing of the JasperSoft BI Suite, which includes JasperReports, JasperServer, JasperAnalysis, and JasperETL; as well as Jasper4Salesforce, an on-demand advanced reporting solution for salesforce.com. Ian has an extensive background in business intelligence product management, product marketing, pre-sales engineering, and professional services at both large and small independent software vendors, including Business Objects, Epiphany, Informix, PeopleSoft, and Pivotal. Ian was the lead product manager for the BusinessObjects 4 and WebIntelligence products when they were introduced to the North American marketplace, and has played a pivotal role in JasperSoft’s market-leading open source business intelligence strategy.
Jason Haislmaier

Bio: Jason Haislmaier is a partner in the Technology and Intellectual Property Law Group of the law firm of Holme Roberts Owen (www.hro.com). He is also an adjunct professor of Copyright Law and Technology Contracting Law at the University of Colorado School of Law. Jason represents emerging and established companies in licensing and other transactions relating to the commercialization and procurement of technology and intellectual property, with a special area of emphasis on free and Open Source software licensing and compliance issues. He has helped clients in the US, Europe and Asia develop and implement Open Source compliance strategies, contend with third party open source compliance inquiries, and deal with Open Source issues in a variety of corporate transactions. He has lectured internationally on technology and intellectual property issues, including the practical and legal issues surrounding the interpretation of open source licenses under the copyright and intellectual property laws of the US and EU.

Bio: JT Smith is President of Plain Black Corporation, and creator of the Open Source content management system WebGUI. In 1999, JT began working on a project called Web Done Right. A professional in Internet technology since 1992, he recognized the need for a web application framework that married both ease of use and power. Web Done Right evolved and after a number of revisions JT launched WebGUI and its parent company, Plain Black Corporation, in 2001. Less than a decade since its inception, WebGUI has become the most widely deployed mod_perl application on the planet.
In the process, JT's expertise and experience have earned him recognition as an innovative and knowledgeable leader in the Open Source community. JT has spoken internationally at conferences and institutions including HOSC, PerlSIG, OSCOM, Harvard, and YAPC. He has written articles and given expert interviews for such publications as eWeek, CIO, ComputerWorld, LinuxWorld, the Intranet Journal, Perl.com, Chicago Daily Herald, and NewsForge. He also supports local publications and user groups by speaking and participating as a leader in the open source community.

Bio: Karl resides in Castle Rock, Colorado. He is a full-time Instructor and Examiner for the RHCT and RHCE certifications. Karl has been the Technology Director for one of San Diego County's school districts. He also started a Wireless Interent Service Provider (WISP) that covers a large portion of San Diego's East County. In addition, Karl has been a consultant for interactive web design(specializing in Flash development), mainly enhancing existing sites with forms and animations.
He enjoys being involved in the community with activities that include: Red Cross Shelter Operator, Football Coach and Boy Scout Volunteer. Favorite past-times include: learning languages, scripting, solving difficult puzzles (Rubik's, etc.) and going on outings with his three sons. (His wife anddaughter are always welcome, too.)

Keith also graduated from San Diego State University with a B.S. in Business Administration, Information Systems. When not applying his computer skills to business, he enjoys programming, video production, and photo editing on the computer as some of his hobbies. Bio: Philip Tellis is a geek who likes to make the computer do his work for him. As part of his job with the Exceptional Performance team at Yahoo! he analyses the impact of various design decisions on web application performance. On the side, Phillip maintains the javascript implementation of strftime used in YUI and plays around with security, accessibility and i18n. He is also the maintainer of several Open Source projects including ayttm and libyahoo2 where he learned a lot about managing a distributed team of geeks. In his spare time, Philip enjoys cycling, reading, cooking and learning spoken languages.
