Choosing a Linux Distribution

Description: This seminar is designed for users who are curious about Linux or who are thinking about switching over to Linux from Microsoft Windows. The seminar will focus on comparing different Linux distributions (including Debian, Fedora, Mandriva, and Ubuntu) with the goal of choosing a distribution that is right for you. You will learn about some distribution requirements, such as processor type, and distribution options, such as Live CDs. You will learn how to burn ISO images. The seminar will discuss some of the advantages and disadvantages of dual-booting vs. using virtual machines. Finally, the seminar will end with a demonstration of installing Fedora onto a Windows XP laptop.
